Lordotic Angles, Footprints, and Anatomical Sizing

Anatomical variability requires a wide range of footprints, heights, and lordotic angles. Medispirex ALIF fusion cages are manufactured in footprints ranging from 28mm to 40mm in width and 24mm to 32mm in depth, with heights spanning 8mm to 20mm in 1mm or 2mm increments. Lordotic angles are engineered at 8°, 12°, 15°, and up to 20° to correct coronal and sagittal imbalance effectively. Large, open graft windows allow for maximum placement of autologous bone graft or synthetic bone graft substitutes to optimize fusion rates.

Technical Roadmap & Future Outlook

The next generation of spinal fusion solutions: smart implants, bio-active surface treatments, and digital workflows.

The field of spinal fusion is evolving rapidly from inert mechanical stability towards active biological integration. Medispirex is at the forefront of this evolution, investing heavily in R&D to bring cutting-edge technologies to our global OEM partners. Over the next three to five years, our technological roadmap focuses on three main developments:

Silicon Nitride & Bioactive Coatings

Developing advanced surface modifications such as plasma-sprayed Hydroxyapatite (HA) and Silicon Nitride (Si3N4) coatings on PEEK substrates. These materials mimic natural bone chemistry, accelerating bone deposition while exhibiting inherent antibacterial properties to reduce surgical site infections.

3D Printed Trabecular Lattices

Scaling our selective laser melting (SLM) 3D printing capabilities. This allows us to construct ALIF cages with complex internal lattice architectures (60–80% porosity, 400–800 μm pore size) optimized for vascularization and bone ingrowth throughout the body of the cage.

Patient-Specific Custom Cages

Integrating preoperative CT-based anatomical reconstructions with automated design software to build customized implants. This enables surgeons to manage complex deformities or revision cases with precise matching of lordotic angles and endplate morphology.
